PICASSO VS. MY FAMILY
04 January 2011, Malaga
I decided to begin the year with something I should have had done already last year: drive to Malaga, sign the special editions of my monograph Riiko Sakkinen Image Club (the book in an engraved wooden box, with material for preparing a Molotov cocktail and instructions screen printed on plexiglass) and bring the ten giant artist's proofs home. I already went by car to Malaga last spring and doing again the 1200km trip alone in two days didn't feel very much fun and I had postponed it several times but now I had also another target in my mind - visiting the Museo Picasso, which I had skipped in all three times I went last year to Malaga for my show there. Picasso might be even bigger than Kippenberger.
I signed the 100 editions on Monday afternoon in the gallery which is located in an industrial/red light area and planned going to the downtown on Tuesday morning but when I woke up at Cecilio's place, a middle-class suburb far away from the center I felt an urge to go back home to be with my family, so I had a coffee and hit the road. My idea was that this year the family was not going to be my absolute priority but it seems that my heart disagrees with that decision.

BATTLEPLAN FOR 2011
27 December 2010, Cervera de los Montes
The most important thing for me in 2010 was the birth of my son. That fact points out that professionally it was a kind of semi stand-by year - but still I did four solo shows and participated in ten group shows, and exhibited at five art fairs. The solo shows included My Favorite Lists at Korjaamo Galleria - which was sold entirely to the Helsinki Art Museum - and Escribid a Papa Noel y Pedid Libertad at Galeria Gacma, Malaga, which was accompanied by my first important hard cover monograph. Of the group shows I should mention Counter Space at MoMA - it was a total surprise that the curators included in a kitchen design exhibition my early drawing Secrets of Sexy Cooking which forms part of the museums permanent collection. Next year will be different. The Turbo Realism's deep operations will be my number one priority. I'll change less diapers and will travel again when necessary. For February, we are planning a project in St. Petersburg. In March, I'll do a solo show at Pristine Galerie, Monterrey, Mexico. Another important exhibition is the show case of the collaborative paintings I did with Judas last year in Beijing, they will be exhibited at Korjaamo Galleria in August. We are going to do together also a new series of drawings about the Sinosphere and then a new slide show - Arrieta & Sakkinen Chinese Encyclopedia. I hope to have an opportunity to travel o China before august to search more visual material for that work. Last summer, I started a big modular painting I said was going to be bigger than Picasso's Guernica. Now I feel that the canvases I painted with Inés don't work properly together and I'm thinking about using them as units of one, two or three. I'm not going to give up the big plan but I need a different production facilities for that project - a bigger studio and several skilled painting assistants. I've applied money from a foundation to execute the huge The Best of All Possible Worlds in Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, where everything else is fabricated too. If I'm lucky with the money, the Deadly Viper Painting Squad will move for few months to South China during 2011.
WITHOUT BOOBS THERE IS NO PARADISE
21 December 2010, Cervera de los Montes
I see a young girl and her fake breasts, baps, bazookas, boobs, bosoms, bouncers, cans, chesticles, chichis, cones, dingers, floaters, funbags, gazongas, hooters, jigglers, jugs, knockers, lolas, mammaries, milk jugs, tits. I traded works with Emma. I got her attractive and repulsive painting Like Mother, Like Daughter and I gave her three drawings. I hope that she is as excited as I am with this deal.
Should I hang the work in my daughter's room? Awhile ago, I placed some Jani's modified giant cereal boxes in my son's room but my wife said that they were inappropriate for a baby boy. And maybe she's right. Maybe art is too disturbing for any sleeping room or any home in general - at least the art that I like.
PAINTING IN MY ASS
16 December 2010, Cervera de los Montes
I'm painting again. During the past few months, I've been more involved in painting the walls of my house and changing the diapers of my son than painting Turbo Realism and changing the art world. Painting is a pain in my ass - troublesome, anxious and slow. When I don't paint, I dream of painting - and when I start to paint, I understand how absurd it is. Why to do it if it's so repulsive? Maybe it's just a tactical lie to myself but I think the best painting is always a struggle and going beyond of the limits of the painter. My limits happen to be very close, from the studio to the bathroom. What makes me feel a champion is that I'm 100% sure no other painter with this level terribly low skills has his works in several prestigious museum collections.
